Since the 1990s, the monarch population has been in decline. Dropping 90% in just 30 years, this iconic and important pollinator is endangered.

In July 2022, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) listed the monarch butterfly on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as Endangered. Aiding the long-term survival of this vital pollinator remains our priority. After a modest increase in 2022, the eastern monarch, those that migrate to Mexico, saw a 22% decrease, with 11 colonies located over just 2.21 hectares.

The decline of the eastern monarch can be attributed to the continued mass use of pesticides, the climate crisis, the clearcutting of the winter habitat, and migration problems (Center for Biological Diversity 2021). The plight of the monarch continues.

Clearly, there is still work to be done, and we can't do this without you! With your help, we can restore clean water sources, improve soil conditions, prevent erosion, create sustainable economic resources, and aid in the long-term survival of the monarch butterfly. This is not possible without the generous support of people like you.

Since 1997 we've planted 11.6 million trees and counting!
